Miles Lassi, is an interdisciplinary artist based out of Oakland, CA. As a musician, he has performed in over 150 cities throughout North America, Europe and Asia with many different ensembles ranging from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall to national broadway tours like Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations and Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage.
Notable artists Miles has performed or worked alongside include Béla Fleck with the Santa Rosa Symphony, Tangerine Dream, John Rutter, Monophonics, Lonnie Holley, Morton Subotnick, Oh No, and The Alchemist. As a session musician, Miles has recorded for producers Sean C and LV for artists including Talib Kweli, Miguel, Joey Bada$$, Fabulous, Bun B, and Jadakiss. He has also developed new music with Grammy award winning producers Om'Mas Keith, Corte Ellis, Jack Vad and Tony award winner Peter Schneider.
In the field of dance, Miles has collaborated with Anna Halprin, Urban Bush Women, Axis Dance Company, Afro Urban Society, Kambara+, Sara Shelton Mann, Rara Tou Limen, ÀSE Dance Theater, Amy Seiwert’s Imagery, ODC/Dance, PUSH Dance Company, Gbedu Town Radio, Gerald Casel Dance, Sarah Bush Dance Project, Kristin Damrow & Company, SOCO Dance Theater, and institutions including the Tamalpa Institute, Stanford University, Sonoma State University, University of San Francisco, Mills College, and UC Berkeley.
Dedicated to creating new sonic experiences, Miles has performed or presented new work at venues such as the New York Musical Festival, Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theater, the de Young Museum, The Joyce Theater, Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, the National Park Service, the Kennedy Center, A.C.T., California Academy of Sciences, FOR-SITE Foundation, Haines Gallery, Georgia Tech, Audium, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Z Space, Big Sur’s Esalen Institute, SXSW, and the New York Film Festival.
His photography has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, Los Angeles Times, and Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and his films have screened at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, DanceAfrica, and the Haiti International Film Festival.
Miles also works as an audio engineer and sound designer for Snap Studios / KQED, where he mixes Spooked, Fire Escape, and Mind Your Own, a new podcast hosted by Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o. He continues to produce and engineer music out of Skyline Studios in Oakland.
Committed to serving Oakland’s vibrant arts ecosystem, Miles currently serves as a Commissioner on the City of Oakland’s Cultural Affairs Commission and as a board member of Oakland Art Murmur.
